Serekunda is the largest town and economic center in The Gambia, located next to Banjul, the administrative capital of The Gambia. The Gambia is a small and peaceful country in West Africa with a lot of potential. Its beauty is legend, the people are smart, friendly, and full of sunshine. As a result, The Gambia is commonly called the smiling coast of Africa.
Knowledge is the most critical resource for the advancement of The Gambia and knowledge.city in Serekunda is established to initiate and facilitate a national knowledge partnership for a strategic and systematic approach to advancing knowledge in the country. Developing a national knowledge agenda and supporting all stakeholders to implement it is among the top priorities.
Knowledge.city puts knowledge at the heart of all development efforts. Knowledge.city intends to establish a scientific university in Serekunda as the engine for the country´s development.
From 8-12 October 2018 a delegation of Austrian and international experts will visit The Gambia and meet high officials including the President of the Gambia, Mr. Adama Barrow, the Vice-President Hon. Ousainou Darboe among others. The experts group is led by Dr. Andreas Brandner, the CEO of knowledge.city, the Austrian Ambassador Dr. Caroline Gudenus, Austrian Commercial Counselor Dr. Michael Berger, Dr. Lamin K. Janneh, Director Knowledge City Gambia Ltd, and cardiologist Prof. Dr. Manfred Niederberger. Bridges will be built between Gambian and Austrian companies and opportunities of advancing health knowledge in The Gambia will be explored.
Many sectors in The Gambia, including health, energy, agriculture, housing, tourism, waste management, and others call for knowledge partnerships with international knowledge service providers and companies.
